Justin Simmons, a two-time Pro Bowl safety, announced his retirement from the National Football League on Wednesday, concluding his career as a member of the Denver Broncos. Simmons, drafted 98th overall in 2016, spent his entire eight-season NFL career with the Broncos, who had released him in 2024 due to salary cap considerations.
Simmons recorded 32 interceptions during his tenure, ranking second in the NFL since 2016. He also accumulated 666 tackles, 71 passes defended, and 5 forced fumbles across 134 games, including 124 starts. He was recognized as a second-team All-Pro four times.
Beyond his on-field performance, Simmons was a three-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee for his community involvement in Denver and served as a three-time team captain. His retirement marks the departure of a prominent defensive player and community figure from the league.
