Rebecca Gibney balances new drama role amid personal loss
Rebecca Gibney is filming the new ABC drama Rural Crime Unit while receiving support from longtime friend Jane Hall following the death of her mother.

Actor Rebecca Gibney has resumed filming for the upcoming ABC drama series Rural Crime Unit, marking a return to work five months after the death of her mother, Shirley. Gibney, who plays the character Jolene McIntyre in the 2027 series, is currently shooting on location in South Australia.
Industry sources report that Gibney has been relying on the support of her longtime friend and former co-star Jane Hall during this period. The two actors, who first worked together on the 1990s sitcom All Together Now, have maintained a close personal relationship for decades.
According to reports, Hall has encouraged Gibney to prioritize her well-being while navigating the production schedule. Gibney recently noted on social media that she was granted a brief break from filming to return home for rest.
Beyond her professional commitments, Gibney shared that her son, Zac, has secured a role in a new short film. The actor has maintained a limited social media presence throughout the year, providing only occasional updates on her activities.
