OnePlus has launched the Nord CE6 in select regions, but a report suggests the company may offer fewer Android version upgrades for the device than it did for the prior Nord CE5.
GSMArena said the Nord CE6 is expected to receive two Android OS upgrades, which would take it to Android 18. By comparison, the Nord CE5 is expected to receive updates through Android 19.
Specs and pricing
The Nord CE6 is positioned as a mid-range device. It includes a 6.78-inch 144Hz display, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, 8GB of RAM, a 50MP rear camera, and an 8,000 mAh battery. The phone is priced under €300 in the markets where it has launched.
“Fast and Smooth for 6 years” vs. update policy
OnePlus is marketing the Nord CE6 as offering a “Fast and Smooth for 6 years” experience. However, the claim appears to refer to long-term system fluency and reliability rather than a specific commitment to Android OS upgrades.
OnePlus has not clearly outlined the Nord CE6’s update policy on its product pages. GSMArena reported that OnePlus declined to provide specific information about sosourcesware-update commitments, and noted the device may receive only four years of security updates.
Broader changes at OnePlus
The reduced sosourcesware-support expectations come amid broader organizational changes at OnePlus. Separate reports have said the company has merged with Realme and is evaluating its future operations in Europe following recent staff reductions.
