Oil Infrastructure Targeted in Recent Conflict

An oil depot in Shahran, Iran, was reportedly bombed on June 14, 2025, during a conflict referred to as the "Twelve-Day War." The incident resulted in a significant explosion and subsequent fires.

This event follows a historical pattern of attacks on Iranian oil infrastructure. In 1993, a bomb detonated at the junction of two strategic oil pipelines near Ahvaz, disrupting oil flow. This earlier incident was attributed to an opposition group.

Prior to that, during the 1991 Gulf War, Iraqi forces bombed oil lakes in Kuwait. This action led to widespread environmental damage, including oil raining down on the city of Ahvaz.
