A state judge in Los Angeles, California, on April 29, 2026, postponed proceedings in the murder case against Nick Reiner until the fall, citing ongoing evidence collection by both prosecution and defense. The delay is attributed to the need to process over two terabytes of data and await final autopsy reports for Rob and Michele Reiner, who were found deceased in their Brentwood home on December 14.
Initial autopsy findings were released and subsequently sealed on December 29, 2025, at the request of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) to facilitate their investigation.
Nick Reiner, 32, faces two counts of first-degree murder with “special circumstances” in connection with the stabbing deaths of his parents. He entered a not guilty plea in February. A. County District Attorney’s office has not yet announced whether it will pursue this option. The District Attorney has indicated that a decision will be made after consulting with the Reiner family.
Reiner has been held without bail since his arrest in December 2025. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 15. The younger Reiner had been residing in a guesthouse on his parents' property and had a court-approved conservatorship from 2020-2021 due to struggles with addiction and mental health issues.
