Football League (NFL) announced its full 2026 international game schedule on Wednesday, significantly expanding its global presence with 11 regular-season contests across six countries. This initiative aims to broaden the league's international fan base and commercial reach, building on previous international efforts.
The 2026 season will feature games in new markets, including Melbourne, Australia (Week 1: 49ers vs. Rams), and Paris, France (Week 7: Steelers vs.
Saints at Stade de France). Brazil will host a game in Rio (Week 3: Ravens vs.
Cowboys). London will continue to be a key international hub, hosting three consecutive games from Week 4 to Week 6, involving teams such as the Colts, Commanders, Eagles, Jaguars, and Texans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley Stadium.
Additionally, Madrid will host a game (Week 9: Bengals vs. Falcons), followed by Munich (Week 10: Patriots vs.
Lions at Allianz Arena). The league will also return to Mexico City in Week 11 for a Vikings vs.
49ers matchup.
This expanded schedule represents a strategic move by the NFL to increase its international footprint, with games scheduled almost weekly during the first half of the season. The increased frequency and geographical diversity of these games are designed to cultivate new markets and deepen engagement with existing international fan bases, potentially leading to long-term revenue growth and brand expansion for the league and its franchises.
