Meta Expands Global Subscription Offerings

Meta Platforms Inc. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, initiated a global rollout of consumer subscription plans for its core applications, Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, alongside commencing trials for new business, creator, and AI-focused subscriptions. This strategic expansion aims to diversify revenue streams beyond advertising and enhance user engagement through premium features.

The consumer-facing subscriptions, priced at $3.99 per month for Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus, and $2.99 per month for WhatsApp Plus, offer users additional functionalities. These include profile customization options, enhanced reaction capabilities, and detailed story insights. Meta's Head of Product, Naomi Gleit, indicated that further features are planned for future integration into these offerings.

Concurrently, Meta is introducing a broader subscription brand, "Meta One," under which it will test professional plans tailored for content creators and businesses. Additionally, AI-centric subscription plans will be piloted for all users. This initiative signals Meta's intent to integrate artificial intelligence capabilities into its premium services and cater to a wider range of user segments.
