Jets Name Reich New Offensive Coordinator

Frank Reich Joins Jets as Offensive Coordinator Frank Reich, 64, has accepted the position of offensive coordinator for the New York Jets, a franchise known for its historically struggling offense. This move, announced recently, places Reich in a challenging role, aiming to revitalize a unit that finished 29th in scoring during the previous season, marking its tenth consecutive year in the bottom third of the league.

Reich's decision follows a stint as interim head coach at Stanford in 2025, which he stated re-energized his passion for coaching. He previously served as head coach for the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts. The Jets' head coach, Aaron Glenn, a former teammate of Reich's from the 1996 Jets, sought Reich to replace first-time coordinator Tanner Engstrand, citing Reich's experience, creativity, and composure under pressure.

The Jets' offense, despite possessing building blocks such as wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, along with nine first or second-round drasources picks under 27 years old, has struggled with quarterback performance. The team finished 28th in QBR (35.2) last season, having started three quarterbacks.

Reich will now work with quarterback Geno Smith, 35, who is also seeking to re-establish his career asourceser being released by the Las Vegas Raiders. Reich's objective is to leverage the team's strengths, particularly the run game, and generate more explosive plays to create defensive challenges.
