Patrick Mahomes Cleared for Chiefs Training

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been cleared by medical staff to fully participate in the team's training camp at Missouri Western State University. The clearance follows a rigorous rehabilitation process for a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee, an injury sustained last December.

Head coach Andy Reid confirmed that Mahomes will resume leading the first-team offense during 11-on-11 drills without specific repetition limits. The quarterback demonstrated his mobility to medical staff earlier this week, proving his ability to run and change direction. Mahomes will continue to wear a protective compression sleeve and knee brace as a precautionary measure during practice sessions.

The primary objective for the coaching staff is to evaluate Mahomes' performance during camp to determine his readiness for the season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 14.

While Mahomes has expressed a desire to participate in preseason games to test his recovery, final decisions regarding his game-day involvement remain subject to ongoing medical assessment. The quarterback aims to refine his pocket movement and decision-making speed throughout the camp period to ensure a return to his pre-injury form.
