Liverpool beats nine-man Brentford after second-half comeback
Liverpool overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat nine-man Brentford, ending the home side’s unbeaten streak after two players were sent off.
Liverpool secured a 2-1 comeback victory against nine-man Brentford at Gtech Community Stadium, overcoming a first-half deficit to claim all three points. The result ended Brentford's unbeaten run in a match defined by two dismissals for the home side.
Brentford initially took control through a 44th-minute header from Keane Lewis-Potter. However, the momentum shifted in first-half stoppage time when Yehor Yarmoliuk received a red card, forcing the hosts to play the remainder of the match with a numerical disadvantage.
Liverpool utilized the extra space in the second half, with Victor Munoz leveling the score in the 62nd minute after receiving a pass from Florian Wirtz. Alexander Isak then secured the lead eight minutes later, heading home a cross from Alexis Mac Allister for his fifth goal of the season.
Brentford's difficulties deepened in stoppage time when Vitaly Janelt was shown a second yellow card for a foul on substitute Rio Ngumoha. The loss marks a setback for Keith Andrews' side, whose performance was compromised by the disciplinary issues that left them two players short.
