Detroit Lions open five August training camp practices to public

The Detroit Lions said Tuesday that five training camp practices in August will be open to the general public as the team prepares for the 2026 NFL season. The open sessions are scheduled for Aug. 3, 4, 6, 10 and 19, the club announced. Additional practice dates will be reserved for the team’s Lions Loyal Members program.

The announcement outlines a limited number of public viewing opportunities during the heart of training camp. The Lions did not list any other public-access practices beyond those five dates.

Public dates and member-only sessions

The five practices open to the general public will take place on Aug. 3, Aug. 4, Aug. 6, Aug. 10 and Aug. 19. The team said these sessions are separate from the days set aside for Lions Loyal Members.

Four additional practices will be open exclusively to Lions Loyal Members on Aug. 2, Aug. 7, Aug. 16 and Aug. 17. The staggered approach splits attendance into different groups across the same camp window.

NFL clubs often structure camp access this way to balance fan demand with operational constraints, including crowd management and facility logistics. The Lions’ plan follows that model by combining a smaller number of public sessions with member-only access days.

Community partner day set for Aug. 11

The Lions also scheduled a community partner day for Aug. 11. The organization said it plans to host 3,000 guests through local community partnerships focused on the development of youth education.

Unlike the public and member-only practices, the Aug. 11 event is built around invited participation tied to the club’s outreach network. The Lions did not indicate that the day would be open through general ticketing.

As August approaches, fans will be watching for any additional guidance from the team on access rules and attendance procedures for the different practice dates.
