The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to a three-year contract extension with tight end Brenton Strange on Tuesday, a deal that would keep him with the club through the 2027 season. The agreement was reported by Strange’s agents.

Strange, a second-round pick in 2023, had one year remaining on his rookie contract. The extension locks in continuity at the position as the Jaguars evaluate expanded roles for their skill players heading into the new season.

The 23-year-old played through a hip issue last year and missed five games, but still posted the best numbers of his young career. He finished the season with 46 receptions for 540 yards and three touchdowns, an 11.7-yard average per catch.

Production despite missed time

Those totals underscored his involvement in the passing game when available, and they provide a reference point for how the Jaguars may use him going forward. The team’s decision to move early on an extension also removes uncertainty ahead of his contract year.
