GoPro unveiled two new premium action cameras, the Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro, on April 20, 2026, presenting them as cinematic-grade models aimed at higher-end users.
The company set the Mission 1 at $599.99 and the Mission 1 Pro at $699.99. GoPro also said subscribers to its ecosystem can receive a $100 discount on these models.
Reservations are open now, with a scheduled release date of May 28. GoPro also announced a third variant, the Mission 1 Pro ILS, which includes an interchangeable mount designed for Micro Four Thirds (MFT) lenses.
The Mission 1 Pro ILS is planned for release later in Q3. GoPro priced that model at $699.99, or $599.99 for subscribers, according to the company.
GoPro said the Mission series is built around a 50MP 1-inch sensor and its new GP3 processor. The company marketed the platform as the “world's smallest, lightest and most durable high resolution, high frame rate cinematic camera system.”
Alongside the cameras, GoPro listed several accessories and their prices. The Wireless Mic System is priced at $159.99, the Media Mod at $149.99, and the Enduro 2 battery at $34.99.
The pricing and positioning indicate GoPro is targeting professional filmmakers more directly with the Mission lineup, which the company framed as a premium, cinematic-grade offering. As a result, the new models are described as less accessible for casual users compared with lower-priced alternatives.
Competitors cited in the announcement include the DJI Osmo Action 6, which retails for under $400, and the Insta360 X5, priced around $550. GoPro’s own older models, including the Hero 12 and Hero 13, are also available at significantly lower prices.
