Ethereum faces $2,360 support test before US CPI
InvestingLive/Forexlive said core CPI at 0.4% month on month could trigger hawkish Fed repricing, while softer data could ease pressure.

Ethereum traded near a $2,360 support area on Oct. 14, InvestingLive/Forexlive said in a market analysis, as traders awaited the U.S. CPI report.
For Ethereum, the setup matters because the note said a 0.4% monthly core CPI reading could push markets toward an October Federal Reserve hike. That would be 0.1 percentage point above the 0.3% pace the analysis said may not be enough to fully price a hike.
The analysis described Ethereum’s outlook as divided. It said protocol development and institutional accumulation were supportive, but that U.S. spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds had seen recent outflows as risk appetite deteriorated.
The note also linked pressure on crypto to higher oil prices, inflation concerns, rising Treasury yields and expectations for tighter Fed policy. It cited a stalemate in U.S.-Iran negotiations and intensifying Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia as factors raising oil-supply disruption risk.
On the charts, InvestingLive/Forexlive said Ethereum was near a major trendline and the $2,360 support zone, a price area where buyers may try to defend the market. A break below that line would, in the note’s view, open a move toward $1,900, while buyers would need a rebound to target $3,400.
Those levels set a wide range around the support zone. The $3,400 upside level is about 44% above $2,360, while the $1,900 downside target is about 19% below it, according to Atlas360 calculations.
Shorter-term levels were narrower. The analysis said Ethereum was consolidating between $2,485 and $2,535 on the one-hour chart, with a break on either side likely to increase momentum. It also identified a downward trendline near $2,600 as possible resistance, meaning an area where selling may reappear.
The note said a 0.3% core CPI increase may not be enough for markets to fully price an October hike, while a 0.4% reading could produce a sharper hawkish repricing. The next data points are the U.S. CPI report on Oct.
14, followed by U.S. PPI, retail sales and jobless claims figures the next day.
