Mbappe Excluded from El Clasico Squad
Kylian Mbappe was excluded from Real Madrid's 21-man squad for the El Clasico match against Barcelona on Sunday, May 10, 2026, despite participating in team training sessions prior to the trip to Barcelona. This decision impacts Real Madrid's offensive lineup in a critical La Liga fixture where Barcelona could secure the Spanish league title.
Mbappe, the league's leading scorer, had reportedly recovered from a hamstring injury sustained two weeks prior. His absence means Vinicius Jr will lead Real Madrid's attack, supported by Brahim Diaz and Gonzalo Torres.
Barcelona enters the match with an 11-point lead over Real Madrid, and a victory would confirm their 29th Spanish league title with three games remaining in the season.
The exclusion follows recent criticism of Mbappe by fans asourceser he took a holiday during his recovery period, prompting comments from coach Arbeloa regarding player dedication. Mbappe is anticipated to be fully fit for France's 2026 World Cup campaign, with pre-tournament friendlies scheduled for early June.
