China Electric Motor II sector rises 2.37% after robotics policy push
SMM said Zhaowei Machinery, Kangping Technology and Sanxie Motor each gained more than 7%, while official data showed industrial robot output rose 29.1%.

China’s Electric Motor II industry sector rose 2.37% by 10:32 local time on October 20, Shanghai Metals Market said in an intraday market flash.
Zhaowei Machinery, Kangping Technology and Sanxie Motor each gained more than 7%, more than twice the sector’s advance, putting robotics-linked suppliers among the strongest intraday performers in SMM’s flash.
The gains came after the Ministry of Commerce and eight other departments issued opinions on October 19 to accelerate technology-driven commerce. The document proposed deeper implementation of the “AI + Manufacturing” initiative and a broader supply of intelligent products including robots, SMM said.
The ministry document also proposed to “cultivate healthy and standardised new forms of intelligent services such as robots and virtual digital human companionship,” according to SMM’s account. SMM also listed MOONS’, Chenguang Motor, Huarui Corporation and Huayang Intelligent among gain leaders, without giving their percentage moves.
Official data cited by SMM showed China’s value-added industrial output for enterprises above designated size rose 5.3% year on year in the first three quarters. Industrial robot production increased 29.1%, compared with 39.5% for lithium-ion batteries and 62.5% for 3D printing equipment.
At a State Council Information Office press conference, Wang Jun, spokesperson and deputy head of the General Administration of Customs, said first-quarter-to-third-quarter imports and exports of industrial robots, electronic components, computer parts and electrical equipment exceeded 10 trillion yuan, up 58.9%. He said those products lifted overall import and export growth by 11.3 percentage points.
A separate CPC Central Committee and State Council document cited by SMM urged expansion of strategic emerging industries, including robotics, next-generation information technology, new energy and high-end equipment. The document also referred to avoiding “involution-style” competition, a Chinese policy phrase often used for excessive rivalry.
SMM cited Zhitong Finance as saying OpenAI had 19 robotics-related job openings on its website as of October 19, covering control systems, electrical engineering, actuators, motor design, manufacturing and data systems. The flash said electric motors are core components for robot joints and dexterous hands, but did not provide revenue exposure for the listed companies.
The next industry event is Nvidia’s GTC conference in Berlin from October 20 to October 22, which SMM cited via Jin10 Data. Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang is due to deliver a keynote on October 21, and the conference agenda includes more than 100 sessions covering accelerated computing, agentic AI, physical AI and robotics.
The flash did not provide closing prices, turnover, benchmark index performance, valuation measures or company guidance. It linked policy and industry news to the intraday move, but did not show that new orders or earnings expectations for the listed motor companies had changed.
