Veterans are scheduled to report to 49ers training camp on July 25, a date that could provide a clearer indication of whether he reports or stays away. The posts themselves do not confirm any agreement between Aiyuk and Washington.

In a video shared online, Aiyuk is heard repeating Washington’s “Raise Hail” chant. He also posted an image of former Washington quarterback Mark Rypien holding the Lombardi Trophy after Washington’s Super Bowl win following the 1991 season. The messages added fuel to a storyline that has lingered since Aiyuk’s extension talks became public in 2024.

The current public information does not confirm whether San Francisco and Washington are engaged in active trade discussions. Any potential transaction would also have to account for Aiyuk’s contract situation and a medical evaluation as he works back from a significant knee injury. The dispute traces back to the 2024 offseason, when Aiyuk sought a new deal and negotiations became public. The process ended in late August 2024 with a four-year, $120 million agreement.
