Rashid Khan takes 6-34 as Afghanistan beat Ireland

Rashid Khan’s 6-34 breaks Ireland’s chase

Officials said Khan’s spell cut through the middle and lower order at a decisive stage. He removed Andy Balbirnie and Harry Tector, and those wickets came after the pair had put on a 72-run partnership that briefly revived Ireland’s chase.

Run-out adds to Ireland’s collapse

Ireland’s attempt to recover was also hit by a run-out when Lorcan Tucker was dismissed by a direct hit from Sediqullah Atal. The wicket added to the pressure as the required rate climbed and Afghanistan maintained control.

Ireland were eventually bowled out for 207, leaving Afghanistan with a comfortable margin and clear momentum in the series. The combination of Rashid Khan’s strike power and key moments in the field proved decisive.

Series shifts to Belfast on Monday

The series is set to continue in Belfast on Monday. With the first ODI washed out, Afghanistan’s victory in the second match becomes a pivotal early result, giving them a one-match advantage in the five-game contest.
