Several individuals are deemed to have been overlooked in these widely publicized rankings.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield, for instance, was a prominent omission despite accumulating 12,237 passing yards and 95 touchdowns since the 2023 season. His output positions him third in passing yards and second in touchdown passes among all quarterbacks during that period, establishing him as a key offensive leader. However, he did not secure a place among the top 100.

Key Defensive and Offensive Exclusions

Beyond Mayfield, defensive players such as linebacker Zack Baun and defensive tackle Williams were cited for their consistent high performance and growing influence within their respective team units. League evaluators specifically noted their substantial contributions on the field.

Factors contributing to these exclusions included past injuries and prevailing market perceptions, according to various evaluators. Wide receiver Malik Nabers and tight end Tucker Kraft are both currently recovering from ACL injuries.

Nabers, in particular, had a remarkable rookie year in 2024, recording over 1,200 receiving yards, which ranks him among the top ten all-time for a first-year player. However, his 2025 season was cut short due to injury, limiting him to just 18 receptions for 271 yards across four games, a factor likely impacting his standing for the 2026 list.

Performance Metrics Versus Public Perception

While the top 100 list is often viewed as a predictive tool for the coming season, NFL personnel contend that players like guard Peter Skoronski and cornerback Denzel Ward possess skill sets and demonstrated performance metrics from 2025 that warrant greater recognition. Ward, regarded by some evaluators as a top-seven cornerback league-wide, has recorded 18 interceptions and 74 pass deflections over eight professional seasons.

This is despite frequently missing multiple games each season due to recurring injury concerns.
