Jon Rahm, a two-time major winner, has secured his eligibility for the 2027 Ryder Cup in Ireland by reaching an agreement with the DP World Tour. The deal, finalized on May 5, 2026, resolves a dispute stemming from Rahm's participation in LIV Golf events without official permission since 2024.
Under the terms of the agreement, Rahm will pay approximately £2 million in outstanding fines and commit to playing a minimum of five DP World Tour events. This resolution ensures his status as a member in good standing, making him available for selection by European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald for the tournament scheduled for September 17-19, 2027, at Adare Manor in County Limerick.
The agreement follows Saudi Arabia's recent announcement that it will cease funding the LIV Golf League beyond the 2026 season. Rahm's deal is similar to arrangements made by eight other players, including Tyrrell Hatton, who also agreed to play a minimum of six DP World Tour events to maintain their eligibility while participating in LIV Golf.
