Prime Video adds Matt Friend to TNF Nightcap
The comedian and impressionist will front a recurring segment after the Patriots-Bears game, extending Prime Video’s use of comedy in its NFL coverage.

Prime Video added Matt Friend to its Thursday Night Football postgame show, TNF Nightcap, as a recurring contributor on Oct. 22, Deadline reported in a trade-press article.
Friend brings more than 6 million social-media followers to the Amazon-owned streamer’s NFL coverage. Prime Video previously used Nikki Glaser on TNF Nightcap in 2024, when she made five appearances with a segment called Late Hits.
Friend’s segment, The Friend Zone with Matt Friend, is scheduled to debut after the Patriots-Bears matchup on Oct. 22. Prime Video said the feature will include sketches, impressions and Friend’s take on sports and entertainment, according to Deadline.
“Thursday Night Football is one of the biggest stages in sports, and I can’t wait to bring even more fun to the night,” Friend said.
The booking gives Prime Video another entertainment figure inside its football programming, where postgame shows compete for viewers who may leave after the game ends. Friend’s public profile is built on impressions of figures including Donald Trump, Barack Obama, Jeff Goldblum, Howard Stern, Bill Maher, JD Vance and King Charles.
Friend has toured stand-up shows in North America and Europe over the past three years and created and starred in CNN’s political comedy special America Laughs With Matt Friend in April 2026. He has also appeared at events including the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards, Wimbledon, the U.S. Open, the Mark Twain Prize and F1.
Spoon Daftary, senior coordinating producer at Prime Video, said Friend brings “a rare mix of sharp comedy and real sports knowledge” to the Thursday night broadcast. Deadline’s report did not include financial terms or the number of TNF Nightcap episodes in which Friend will appear.
The next scheduled step is the Oct. 22 debut of The Friend Zone with Matt Friend after Patriots-Bears.
