Trump Media Reports $400 Million Loss Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), the parent company of Truth Social, reported a net loss exceeding $400 million in the first quarter of 2026, primarily attributed to a decline in cryptocurrency asset values. The company's filing on March 31 indicated revenues of approximately $870,000 for the period, with a 6% increase in net sales.
The substantial losses stem from TMTG's investments in cryptocurrency, a sector that experienced declining prices during the reporting period. Bitcoin, for instance, saw its value decrease from $126,000 in October to $70,000 in March, before a slight recovery to $80,000. TMTG had previously announced a $2.5 billion investment in cryptocurrencies.
Despite the financial setback, TMTG's interim CEO, Kevin McGurn, stated the company is utilizing its balance sheet and operating cash flow to expand its businesses and platform infrastructure. The company also plans to pursue a merger with TAE Technologies, a firm focused on nuclear fusion technology, as part of its strategy to identify new growth opportunities and enhance shareholder value.
