The Pittsburgh Steelers and edge rusher Nick Herbig finalized a four-year, $100 million contract extension on Tuesday, including $42 million guaranteed. This agreement, secures Herbig's long-term tenure with the team and marks a significant financial commitment to a player who has not yet started a full NFL season.
The extension positions Herbig, who has made 11 starts in 45 appearances over three seasons, as a key component of the Steelers' defensive strategy. His reported $25 million average annual value places him second among the team's edge rushers, behind T.J. Watt ($41 million AAV) and ahead of Alex Highsmith ($17 million AAV). This financial restructuring could influence the team's future roster decisions, particularly concerning Highsmith, whose remaining two years on his contract are non-guaranteed.
Herbig's performance has shown consistent growth, with career highs in 2025 including 7.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and 18 quarterback hits.
