Rodgers Signs New Steelers Contract

Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers has agreed to a new one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, extending his National Football League (NFL) career into a 22nd season. The agreement, reported on September 11, 2025, commits the 42-year-old to the Steelers after his previous one-year deal concluded. This development secures a key player for Pittsburgh's upcoming season, following their 2025 playoff appearance.

Rodgers' new contract is valued at a guaranteed $22 million, with potential incentives increasing the total to $25 million. This marks an increase from his previous one-year deal with the Steelers, which was worth $13.65 million. The quarterback's decision to continue playing follows a season where he led the Steelers to a 10-7 record and their first AFC North title since 2020, despite an inconsistent team performance and a broken wrist that caused him to miss one game.

The Steelers have also drafted quarterbacks Drew Allar in 2025 and Will Howard in 2026, indicating a potential succession plan for Rodgers. His return to Pittsburgh reunites him with head coach Mike McCarthy, under whom Rodgers won a Super Bowl during their 18 years together with the Green Bay Packers.
