The signing comes after Teddy Bridgewater’s departure. Bridgewater was recently placed on the reserve/retired list, leaving Detroit to secure an experienced option behind starting quarterback Jared Goff.
Why the Lions moved quickly at quarterback
Before Dobbs arrived, the Lions’ depth behind Goff was thin. The only other quarterback on the roster mentioned as a backup option was undrafted free agent Luke Altmyer, making the need for a proven veteran more urgent for day-to-day stability.
