Jon Stewart extends Daily Show role through December 2028

The two-year agreement leaves Stewart hosting Mondays and executive-producing as five correspondents continue the Tuesday-to-Thursday rotation.

Jon Stewart extends Daily Show role through December 2028

Jon Stewart agreed to a two-year extension that keeps him on Comedy Central's The Daily Show through December 2028, Consequence reported in an Oct. 19 article.

The deal gives the late-night franchise continuity after Stewart's February 2024 return, a period in which the program has received 15 Emmy nominations and two wins, according to the article.

Stewart will continue to host the Monday editions and serve as an executive producer. Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic are set to keep alternating in the anchor chair from Tuesday through Thursday.

The arrangement prolongs Stewart's second run at the program after his original stint from 1999 to 2015. His return came almost a decade after he left the Comedy Central series.

Consequence framed the renewal against a less settled period for American late-night television. The article said CBS retired The Late Show after Stephen Colbert's finale in May, while ABC temporarily removed Jimmy Kimmel Live from its schedule in 2025.

The article did not report financial terms for Stewart's agreement. The reported contract runs through December 2028.
