The Digital India BHASHINI Division and the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India launched CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad on September 30, 2026, an AI-enabled system designed to translate official CAG documents and audit reports, officials said. Reaction pending.
CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad rollout
Officials said the tool is a customised Language AI environment aimed at consistent terminology, contextual translation and quality control while preserving human review. The solution includes controls for security, restricted access and data sovereignty to meet institutional requirements, officials said.
Officials noted BHASHINI currently supports 36 Indian text languages, 23 Indian voice languages and 35 international languages. The programme will be applied to public-service use cases such as multilingual agricultural advisory, voice-enabled grievance registration and conversational voice interfaces, officials said.
Amitabh Nag, chief executive of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, outlined the platform’s evolution across language data, models and applications and described it as part of a sovereign Language AI ecosystem suited to India’s linguistic diversity. K. Sanjay Murthy, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, said the tool should help ensure audit findings reach citizens in languages they understand, complementing efforts to use Hindi and other Indian languages in official work.
Officials said further rollout details and integration timelines will be published by December 31, 2026.
