China Asset Management and Lesha Bank have finalized an agreement to launch a sharia-compliant equity fund targeting mainland China and Hong Kong markets. The fund, domiciled in the Cayman Islands, aims to attract up to $1 billion in capital from high-net-worth investors across Gulf Cooperation Council nations.
The investment strategy focuses on artificial intelligence and biotechnology sectors to provide regional diversification for Middle Eastern portfolios. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to reduce reliance on United States equity markets amid ongoing geopolitical instability.
This partnership follows recent diplomatic and economic outreach between Hong Kong officials and Middle Eastern financial institutions. The collaboration reinforces Hong Kong’s strategic position as a primary conduit for channeling Gulf capital into mainland Chinese assets.
