Haas F1 Seeks New Sponsorship to Approach $215 Million Budget Cap
Haas F1 is seeking new sponsorship to reach the $215 million budget cap by 2027 while maintaining a performance-based driver selection strategy.

The Haas Formula 1 team is actively pursuing additional commercial partnerships to increase its annual operating budget, aiming to move closer to the sport's regulatory cap of $215 million. The team currently operates with a significantly lower budget, which limits its ability to expand its workforce and upgrade technical infrastructure.
Komatsu Confirms Progress in Talks
Team principal Ayao Komatsu reported positive progress in ongoing sponsorship negotiations for the 2027 season, indicating optimism about securing new revenue streams. While unconfirmed reports linked the team with BWT, Komatsu explicitly stated that any new commercial agreements would not require changes to the team's established livery.
Performance Guides Driver Choices
Haas management reiterated that financial constraints will not influence the team's driver selection process for 2027. Performance remains the primary criterion for recruitment, as the team believes that strong championship standings and on-track results offer greater long-term financial stability than driver-linked sponsorship packages. Commercial considerations will only serve as a tie-breaking mechanism if prospective candidates show statistically negligible performance differences.
Budget Drives Technical Expansion
Komatsu highlighted that a lack of budget has previously prevented the team from increasing its headcount and improving its tooling and infrastructure. Securing new partners is seen as crucial for addressing these limitations and allowing the team to invest further in its operational capabilities.
