Gold tests $4,160 support as upper-range momentum fades

Gold is testing a critical support zone between $4,160 and $4,170 as the metal shifts into a lower rotational auction. The move follows a failure to maintain price acceptance near the recent upper distribution range of $4,180 to $4,190.

Market participants are now monitoring

the $4,138 to $4,150 range as the next significant value support where responsive buying interest may emerge.

If the market fails to rebuild sustained trade above the $4,160 level, it indicates that recent attempts to establish higher value have been rejected.

Federal Reserve

The broader macro environment remains mixed for the metal. Gold rose approximately 0.4% to $4,181 on Monday as Treasury yields eased and lower oil prices tempered inflation concerns, according to market data. However, the outlook is clouded by persistent U.S. inflation data, which keeps the possibility of further Federal Reserve tightening in play and prevents a clear bullish trend despite ongoing safe-haven demand linked to geopolitical uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz.

The primary scenario involves a progressive rotation toward lower value following the rejection of the upper distribution. Should the $4,138 to $4,150 support fail to hold, the auction could migrate toward the major lower value area of $4,102 to $4,111. Conversely, the bearish thesis would weaken if the market re-establishes sustained acceptance above the $4,180 to $4,190 level, signaling a potential return to higher-value migration.
