German hip-hop pioneer Torch will perform in Luxembourg, bringing his influential style to The Klub venue alongside long-time collaborators Toni-L and DJ Soundtrax. The event, organized by De Läbbel, features local support acts Corbi & David Fluit of De Läb, and DJ PC.
Torch's Enduring Influence on German Rap
Torch, a co-founder of the group Advanced Chemistry, helped define German-language hip-hop in the early 1990s. His work, including the track “Fremd im eigenen Land,” established new benchmarks for politically and socially aware rap within the German-speaking music scene. His lyrical depth, command of language, and consistent artistic stance have shaped subsequent generations of artists, maintaining his status as a significant voice in hip-hop culture.
Solo Work and Collaborations
As a solo artist, Torch released the album “Blauer Samt,” which critics consider a classic in the genre. He also participated in the Brothers Keepers project, contributing to the track “Adriano (Letzte Warnung).” This collaboration featured prominent artists such as Samy Deluxe, Afrob, and Xavier Naidoo. Additionally, Torch gained international recognition through his appearance on DJ Tomekk’s hit “Return of Hip Hop,” which also included hip-hop figures like KRS-One and MC René.
