Fenerbahçe Plans Major Expansion for Sukru Saracoglu Stadium

Expansion Project Approval

Fenerbahçe Sports Club has received official authorization to proceed with a significant renovation of the Ülker Stadium Sukru Saracoglu Sports Complex. Leadership confirmed that the expansion plan, which aims to increase total capacity to 64,000 spectators, was presented to and approved by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The initiative is estimated to cost approximately 50 million euros. Officials stated that the organization intends to fund the entire development through sponsorship agreements, ensuring that the club’s primary budget remains unaffected by the construction expenses.

Construction and Financial Goals

The project timeline is set for 12 months, with the club projecting an annual revenue increase of 25 million euros upon completion. Structural changes will focus on expanding the stands behind the goals and integrating 52 additional luxury suites into the facility.

Beyond seating capacity, the renovation includes aesthetic upgrades to the stadium’s exterior facade and improvements to internal acoustics. These enhancements are designed to elevate the venue's overall commercial appeal and match-day experience.

Operational Considerations

Management expects the team to continue playing matches at the current site throughout most of the construction phase. However, there remains a possibility that the club may need to relocate temporarily during the specific period when the roof structure is being elevated.

The project represents a broader effort to modernize the club's infrastructure and strengthen its financial standing. While the expansion is intended to bolster long-term income, the logistical challenges of maintaining operations during the renovation period remain a key factor for the club to navigate.
