Deion Sanders Says He Is Cancer-Free After Bladder Cancer Treatment

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders said Tuesday that he is cancer-free after treatment for bladder cancer and expects to prepare for the 2026 season without health limitations. Sanders, 58, said he is “fully back” after what he described as a difficult 2025, and credited early detection and his doctors in Colorado for helping him through recovery.

Sanders made the comments in a national television interview and said that, a year earlier, he did not know how his health situation would turn out. He said he has regained his confidence as he turns his attention back to football.

According to Sanders, the bladder cancer was discovered during examinations connected to another health issue. That separate problem ultimately led to the amputation of two toes, and Sanders said the cancer was caught early in the process.

Sanders said early detection was central to his successful treatment. He urged people to address medical concerns quickly and to follow up on symptoms rather than delaying care.

Sanders thanked the doctors who treated him in Colorado and said he is grateful to be healthy again. He described the past year as a challenging stretch but said he now feels ready to work without restrictions.
