Cloud drug-discovery market may reach $11.4 bn by 2035

Research and Markets cites AI workflows, hybrid cloud demand and rising pharmaceutical research activity as growth drivers.

Cloud drug-discovery market may reach $11.4bn by 2035

Research and Markets said in an Oct. 14 press release that it added a report forecasting the cloud-based drug-discovery platform market to reach $11.4 billion by 2035 from $4.2 billion in the current year.

The projection matters for cloud, software and life-sciences vendors because the 2035 market estimate would be about 2.7 times the current-year level, according to Atlas360 calculations, implying an 11.7% compound annual growth rate.

Cloud-based drug-discovery platforms help researchers use remote computing systems to screen molecules, model how compounds may behave and refine drug candidates before testing. The report said they also support multi-omics analysis, which combines genomic and other biological datasets to study disease and drug response.

The report said growth is being supported by higher pharmaceutical research activity, larger data volumes and demand for computing infrastructure that can expand without equivalent internal investment. It identified Software as a Service, subscription software delivered online, as the largest current service category.

Research and Markets said Platform as a Service, cloud tools used to build and run customized workflows, is forecast to post the highest CAGR through 2035. The press release did not disclose revenue shares for the service categories.

Hybrid cloud is the leading deployment model, according to the report. That setup lets companies keep sensitive regulated data, proprietary AI models and intellectual property in private systems while using public cloud capacity for large computing jobs.

The report pointed to recent technology partnerships as evidence of commercial demand. It said Amazon Web Services introduced Amazon Bio Discovery with access to more than 40 AI biology models, while Merck and Google Cloud announced a multiyear collaboration valued at up to $1 billion. It also said Relation Therapeutics signed a collaboration with GSK valued at up to $110 million.

Adoption remains constrained by data security, intellectual-property protection, regulatory compliance and vendor governance, the report said. It also said AI models require validation, explainability and performance checks before their outputs can reliably support discovery and development decisions.

North America is expected to remain the largest regional market through 2035, while Asia-Pacific is forecast to record the highest CAGR, according to the report. Companies listed in the market include Amazon Web Services, Clarivate, Dassault Systemes, Google Cloud, Accenture, Alibaba Cloud, Cognizant and HCLTech.
