ChangXin Memory Technologies Advances 4F Square DRAM Architecture
ChangXin Memory Technologies plans to launch 4F square DRAM products by late 2026, aiming to increase storage density and compete with global memory chip…

ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has announced technical progress in developing a 4F square DRAM cell structure. This design aims to increase memory storage density by reducing the area occupied by individual memory cells compared to the current industry-standard 6F square architecture.
Commercial deployment of server-memory products utilizing this 4F square design is scheduled for late 2026. This development aligns CXMT with the technical roadmaps of major global competitors, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, who are pursuing similar structural optimizations.

The transition to a 4F square architecture represents a significant shift in semiconductor manufacturing efficiency. Successful implementation could enhance the competitive standing of domestic Chinese memory production by improving performance metrics and storage capacity in server-grade hardware.
This advancement indicates a narrowing of the technological gap in memory chip design between Chinese firms and established international market leaders. Continued progress in this area may influence future supply chain dynamics and the global distribution of high-density memory components.
