Stefon Diggs Acquitted of Assault Charges

A jury in Boston on Tuesday found former New England Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs not guilty of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges. The verdict concludes a two-day trial stemming from an alleged December 2 incident involving his private chef, Jamila Adams, at Diggs' Dedham home. Diggs had pleaded not guilty to the charges in February.

The case centered on Adams' testimony that Diggs slapped and choked her during an argument related to a pay dispute. Diggs' defense attorneys maintained the alleged assault did not occur, questioning Adams' credibility and suggesting the dispute was financial or relational. They presented testimony from friends and employees who stated Adams showed no visible injuries asourceser the alleged incident.

While the acquittal clears Diggs legally, the National Football League (NFL) stated it is monitoring developments and reviewing the matter under its personal conduct policy. The NFL's review could result in disciplinary action for Diggs, impacting his potential return to the field.
