Cowboys rookie Caleb Downs switches jersey number from 18 to 13 for OTAs

Dallas Cowboys rookie safety Caleb Downs has changed his jersey number from No. 18 to No. 13 for Organized Team Activities (OTAs), asourceser wearing No. 18 during rookie minicamp.

The new number is not necessarily final. A Cowboys.com report noted the assignment is “subject to change” before the start of the regular season.

Downs wore No. 2 during his college career at Ohio State. That number is currently assigned to cornerback Cobie Durant, who signed a one-year contract with Dallas in March.

Downs’ jersey has been the top-selling among rookies, but any further change — including a potential switch to No. 2 later on — could impact fans who have already purchased No. 18 or No. 13 jerseys.
