British Airways restores daily Dubai-Heathrow flights
The restart adds seven weekly departures from each city, while other carriers keep UAE services paused into 2027.
British Airways resumed one daily Dubai-London Heathrow flight on Wednesday, Nov. 4, after an eight-month suspension, Gulf News reported in an aviation report citing Flightradar24 records and airline schedules.
The winter restart restores seven weekly departures from each city, compared with British Airways’ plan to raise the route to 14 weekly flights in summer 2027, according to schedule details reported by Gulf News.
Flightradar24 records cited by Gulf News showed flight BA105 landed at Dubai International Airport on Wednesday after departing London Heathrow on Tuesday evening. The aircraft was a Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, registration G-ZBLA, and later left Dubai as BA104.
The service gives Dubai passengers another direct Heathrow option at the start of the winter travel season. British Airways had earlier planned to bring the route back on Oct. 25, before delaying the return, Gulf News reported.
The airline’s UAE restoration remains partial. British Airways has said its Abu Dhabi service will stay suspended until the winter 2027-28 season, according to the report.
The Dubai route was paused after the outbreak of the Middle East conflict at the end of February, Gulf News reported. The carrier’s return comes as several other airlines use separate timetables for rebuilding Dubai services, leaving capacity recovery uneven across routes and carriers.
Lufthansa Group says Lufthansa, Swiss and Eurowings have delayed their Dubai restart until Nov. 25. The group’s updated schedule lists Lufthansa planning up to five weekly flights from Frankfurt and up to five weekly flights from Munich, while Swiss plans daily Zurich-Dubai service and Eurowings plans daily Berlin-Dubai service.
Austrian Airlines plans to restart Vienna-Dubai flights on Dec. 12 with five weekly services, according to Lufthansa Group’s updated schedule cited by Gulf News.
Other suspensions run longer. Singapore Airlines says its Singapore-Dubai flights SQ494 and SQ495 are cancelled through Feb. 28, 2027, because of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
KLM says it will not fly Amsterdam-Dubai during the winter 2026-27 season through March 27, 2027. Air Canada says its Dubai flights will stay cancelled until the end of March 2027, while Virgin Atlantic has confirmed its seasonal Dubai service is suspended for winter 2026-27 and has a rebooking policy covering cancelled flights from Oct. 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027.
Lufthansa Group’s Nov. 25 restart date is the next check on European carriers’ Dubai recovery. The observable is whether Lufthansa, Swiss and Eurowings operate the postponed Dubai services listed in the group’s updated schedule.
Austrian Airlines’ Dec. 12 Vienna-Dubai resumption is another dated test. The airline plans five weekly flights on the route, according to Lufthansa Group’s updated schedule cited by Gulf News.
Singapore Airlines’ cancellations through Feb. 28, 2027, set a later marker for Asia-Dubai connectivity. The check is whether flights SQ494 and SQ495 return after that date or remain suspended because of the Middle East geopolitical situation cited by the airline.
