Apple faces January 2027 iPhone Duo deliveries after sellout

Apple said demand for its first foldable iPhone was extraordinary, while Turkish pricing starts at 230,000 lira and rises to 336,000 lira.

Apple faces January 2027 iPhone Duo deliveries after sellout

Apple's iPhone Duo deliveries slipped to January 2027 after the foldable handset sold out on its website, Donanımhaber reported on Oct. 18, citing Apple comments to the Financial Times.

The delay matters because the device starts at 230,000 lira in Turkey and reaches 336,000 lira with maximum storage, putting it at the top end of Apple's iPhone lineup.

Apple described preorder demand for the iPhone Duo as “gerçekten olağanüstü,” or truly extraordinary, according to Donanımhaber. The company said it was working to get the product to customers as quickly as possible, the report said.

Donanımhaber said the handset disappeared from Apple's website within hours of going on sale and is not expected to return to stock before next year. The report did not give the number of units Apple made available, leaving the scale of demand and the size of initial supply unclear.

The iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone, according to the report. Analysts cited by Donanımhaber had expected the model to target a relatively narrow group of higher-income buyers willing to pay a premium price.

Delivery delays of this length are unusual for Apple products, the report said. During Covid-related factory closures in China in 2022, some iPhone 14 deliveries were delayed by more than a month, but Donanımhaber said multi-month delays for an iPhone model are rare.

The launch comes as Apple heads into the year-end holiday period. Counterpoint Research said this week, according to Donanımhaber, that iPhone 18 Pro models had a stronger opening than the previous generation, especially in China and India.
