NFL announces 2026 home-and-away opponents for all 32 teams ahead of full schedule release

The NFL has released the list of home-and-away opponents for all 32 teams for the 2026 season, outlining the matchups that will make up the league’s 272-game regular season under the 17-game format.

The opponent list is published ahead of the full schedule release — including dates, kickoff times and broadcast details — which is expected later this month.

Key dates The 2026 regular season is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Sept. 9, and run through Week 18 on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2027.

The season is set to conclude with Super Bowl LXI on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

How the opponent formula works Opponent assignments are set by the NFL’s scheduling formula, introduced in 2002 and updated in 2021 with the move to a 17th regular-season game. Under the format, each team plays:

  • Six divisional games (home and away against its three division rivals)
  • Four games against a rotating division within its conference
  • Four games against a rotating division from the opposing conference
  • Two intraconference games based on the prior season’s standings
  • One interconference game based on the prior season’s standings (with the home conference rotating; NFC teams host in 2026)

Early marquee matchups and international notes Among the notable matchups highlighted are Chiefs at Bills, Bills at Rams and Eagles at 49ers.

With NFC teams hosting nine home games in 2026, that conference is expected to stage most international games. The Los Angeles Rams are set to play a game in Australia, while the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons are designated to host international games, with locations to be announced later.
