A Seeking Alpha author said TransDigm’s price looks more reasonable, while debt costs, acquisitions and margin pressure still limit the investment case.

TransDigm valuation case hinges on margins at 30 times adjusted EPS

TransDigm Group’s valuation case rests on execution after a Seeking Alpha author put the stock at about 30 times adjusted EPS in an article captured Oct. 15.

For TransDigm investors, the Oct. 15 Seeking Alpha article said the roughly 30-times multiple looked reasonable against peers, but financing costs and margin pressure limited the case.

Adjusted EPS means earnings per share after excluding certain items, a measure companies and analysts use to compare operating performance. The article used that multiple as the main scale comparison for TransDigm rather than revenue, market value or share-price movement.

LL Insights wrote: “TransDigm Group offers improved valuation, but I require a margin of safety before increasing my position due to its significant financing burden.”

TransDigm is an aerospace supplier whose business model is described in the article as acquisition-driven. The author said its regulatory moat, meaning the approvals and requirements that can make replacement parts difficult to displace, supports recurring profits.

The caution centered on recent deals and borrowing costs. LL Insights said strong revenue and demand across segments were offset by lower margins from acquisitions and higher interest expense, which restrained per-share earnings growth.

The article also cited possible airline and defense cycle risks. It did not provide a market reaction, debt figures, acquisition-specific margin targets or a dated company catalyst.

LL Insights said further operating data would be needed to confirm the case for adding exposure to TransDigm shares. The author disclosed no stock, option or similar derivative position in the companies mentioned, and no plan to start one within 72 hours.
