France Backs WHO With €24M Core Grant

France has finalized seven contribution agreements with the World Health Organization, totaling €24 million. This funding is provided through the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs under the existing 2020–2025 framework agreement.

The package includes €4.5 million in flexible voluntary funds for the Core Voluntary Contributions Account. The remaining capital is earmarked for specific operational priorities, including non-communicable diseases, the One Health initiative, and the Contingency Fund for Emergencies.

Operational support is also directed toward crisis response in Gaza and Ukraine, as well as the maintenance of the WHO emergencies center in Lyon. This commitment aligns with France’s broader policy of advocating for increased, predictable, and flexible financing for the organization.

France continues to serve as a co-host for the WHO Investment Round, which seeks to secure resources for the 2025–2028 Fourteenth General Programme of Work. These agreements reinforce the current strategic alignment between French foreign policy and global health governance objectives.
