India Pledges $85M to WHO Traditional Medicine Centre
India has pledged $85 million to the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre to standardize research and integrate traditional practices through 2032.

The Government of India has committed $85 million over a ten-year period, spanning 2022 to 2032, to support the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre. This funding is part of a broader $250 million investment aimed at establishing the center’s infrastructure and operationalizing its research programs. The contribution will be integrated into the WHO’s 2025–2028 Investment Round to support core organizational objectives.
The financial commitment is intended to strengthen the evidence base for traditional medicine policies, practices, and public health applications. By providing data and technical support, the initiative seeks to facilitate the integration of traditional practices into national health systems globally.
This funding aligns with the upcoming 2025–2034 Global Strategy for Traditional Medicine, which is scheduled for presentation at the 78th World Health Assembly. The collaboration reinforces India's influence in shaping international health standards and technical benchmarks for traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine.
