Russia strikes Ukrainian infrastructure after Trump-Zelensky meeting

Russian forces launched overnight missile and rocket strikes across Ukraine, officials said, hitting a weapons-production site in Kyiv and energy, rail and port facilities. The strikes followed a meeting between President Trump and President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier this week, officials said.

Weapons, fuel and rail targeted The ministry said its forces completed an encirclement of Dobropolye and advanced toward Aleksandrovka in Donetsk, which it said could affect supply routes toward Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. Ukrainian authorities did not immediately provide a public damage assessment, and independent verification of the Russian claims was not available at the time officials released their statements.

A key near-term marker will be whether Kyiv issues a consolidated damage report by September 24, 2026; markets and international observers will watch rail and port status for disruptions to grain and fuel exports through that date.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the Kyiv facility, LLC Fire Point, produced components and warheads for FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles and had been struck. Officials also said strikes hit a solid rocket fuel plant in Pavlograd, railway infrastructure in Vinnytsia, the Kremenchuk oil refinery and fuel storage near Kyiv, and port facilities at Reni and Odesa.
