Remains ID'd as Missing Student

Remains Identified as Missing USF Student Human remains recovered near a Tampa Bay area bridge on Sunday, April 27, have been identified as Nahida Bristy, a missing 27-year-old doctoral student from the University of South Florida (USF). This identification, confirmed by Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister on Friday, May 1, follows the earlier discovery of fellow USF doctoral student Zamil Limon's body on April 24. Both students, originally from Bangladesh, were last seen on April 16 in Tampa.

The remains of Nahida Bristy were found in a black trash bag on the shoreline, south of where Limon's body was located on the Howard Frankland Bridge. Investigators noted the bag was tied similarly to the one containing Limon's remains, and the clothing matched Bristy's last known attire. Both victims sustained multiple stab wounds, with Limon also found bound and dismembered to facilitate placement in a trash bag.

Hisham Abugharbieh, 26, Limon's roommate, has been charged with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder with a weapon in connection with both deaths. Additional charges include unlawfully moving a dead body, failure to report a death with intent to conceal, tampering with physical evidence, false imprisonment, and battery. Abugharbieh remains in custody without bail, following a judge's ruling on Tuesday, April 29. The motive for the killings remains under investigation.
