PBOC fixing estimate puts USD/CNY at 6.7838
China’s central bank is due to set its daily yuan midpoint, a key signal for Asian currency markets.

The People’s Bank of China is expected to set the daily USD/CNY reference rate at 6.7838 on Tuesday, with the fixing due around 0115 GMT. Reaction pending before the official midpoint, which remains one of the main policy signals for Asian foreign exchange trading.
China runs a managed floating exchange-rate system. The yuan is allowed to trade onshore within a 2% band on either side of the central reference rate set by the central bank each trading day.
Yuan midpoint frames dollar pressure
The fixing is watched because it is not treated by investors as a purely mechanical calculation. The central bank considers the previous onshore close, moves in major currencies, wider international FX conditions and domestic priorities including capital flows, growth momentum and financial stability.
A stronger yuan midpoint than market estimates would usually be read as resistance to depreciation pressure. A weaker setting would signal more tolerance for currency softness, particularly if the dollar is firm or China’s domestic economy is under strain.
The wider FX effect runs
through the dollar and Asia currency complex.
If the fixing leans stronger, it can steady regional currencies and reduce
pressure on yuan-sensitive trades; if it is weaker, it can add to dollar demand and raise questions about capital-flow management.
The official USD/CNY midpoint is due around 0115 GMT on July 7, 2026, with onshore trading then constrained by the 2% band around that rate.
