Oregon’s attorney general is seeking a court order to pause Paramount’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. for 60 days, officials said Wednesday. Officials said the request is aimed at giving the state more time to assess whether the proposed transaction complies with competition law. The case matters for equities because large media mergers often trade

on timing as much as deal price. A court-ordered pause could extend the approval calendar, raise legal costs and increase uncertainty around any expected transaction premium.

review and the prospect of additional state challenges.

Officials said other states are preparing legal action seeking to block the proposed merger. That widens the risk beyond Oregon and could turn the deal into a broader test of how state enforcers approach consolidation in entertainment, streaming and studio assets.
