Microsoft prices Xbox Nano Controller at $49.99

Microsoft opened preorders for its Xbox Nano Controller at $49.99 after an Oct. 14 announcement, Mashable Me reported in an Oct. 15 trade-press article.

The price puts the smaller rechargeable gamepad $15 below the standard Xbox controller, with retail shipments due Nov. 4 in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Japan and Europe, according to the article.

Xbox described the device in an Oct. 14 post on X as a pocketable controller. “We've got a little something new to show you!

Hop into your favorite games with our pocketable XBOX Nano Controller,” the company said.

The article said the controller measures a little more than 5 inches wide and weighs 3.5 ounces, or about 99 grams. It retains the standard Xbox-style control layout, including offset thumbsticks, a directional pad, A-B-X-Y buttons, bumpers and low-profile triggers.

The Nano Controller uses an integrated rechargeable lithium-ion battery charged through USB-C, according to the article. It supports Xbox Wireless for Xbox Series X|S and Bluetooth 5.3 for Android, iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Windows PC, making mobile and cloud play part of the product pitch.

Microsoft is aiming the device at younger players, users with smaller hands and portable gaming sessions, according to the article and Atlas360’s prior reporting on Oct. 14. The move extends Microsoft’s accessories strategy across consoles, PCs, phones and TVs, but the article did not provide sales targets, margin estimates or revenue projections.

Mashable Me reported that availability in the UAE would follow the first rollout through authorized retailers including Virgin Megastore, Geekay Games, Sharaf DG and Amazon UAE. It did not give a specific UAE launch date.
