AI Firms Poised for Trillion-Dollar IPOs Three prominent artificial intelligence (AI)-related companies, SpaceX, OpenAI, and xAI, are anticipated to pursue initial public offerings (IPOs) in the near future, potentially achieving market valuations exceeding $1 trillion. This development, driven by significant investor interest in the AI sector, could reshape the landscape of publicly traded technology companies by 2026.
SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, is reportedly the closest to an IPO, having confidentially filed its prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Media reports suggest the company, which includes Starlink and has ties to xAI, could seek a valuation of up to $2 trillion.
OpenAI, led by Sam Altman and known for ChatGPT, is also considering an IPO, possibly by the fourth quarter of 2026, to fund its projected $1.4 trillion infrastructure investments over the next eight years. OpenAI recently secured a $122 billion financing round and aims for profitability by 2030 with $275 billion in revenue.
The potential entry of these companies into public markets at such high valuations reflects the ongoing investor confidence in the transformative impact of AI technology. Their IPOs are expected to attract substantial capital, further fueling innovation and expansion within the AI industry.
