Luxembourg has finalized two strategic agreements with the World Health Organization, totaling €47.5 million in funding for the 2025–2028 period. The primary agreement, valued at €46.5 million, represents the largest financial commitment between the two parties to date. It includes flexible and thematic funding designated for universal health coverage, tropical disease research, and polio eradication efforts.
A secondary agreement marks Luxembourg’s first multiyear voluntary contribution of €1 million to the organization. These funds are specifically earmarked for sanitary crisis preparedness, response mechanisms, and the mitigation of health inequalities with a focus on gender-based disparities.
The agreements formalize support for the development and implementation of global technical standards and health guidelines. This financial commitment aligns with Luxembourg’s stated policy of prioritizing multilateralism and proactive health crisis prevention. The funding structure provides the organization with increased operational flexibility to address emerging global health priorities.
